It can be challenging to stay creative with your kids since we're all spending lots of time at home nowadays due to the COVID-19 virus. The upcoming period we will be sharing DIY ideas for kids to feed your creativity⚡
Let's create your own maze runner, also called marble runs, using materials that are already at home. A fun and educational kids craft!
Materials needed:
- Small cardboard box
- Carboard
- Wrapping paper
- Scissors
- Glue stick or double sided adhesive tape
- Small ball, marble or bead
How to make a marble maze:
Step 1
Find a cardboard box that you can reuse to make your own marble run. We used a small box, but off course you can go for a big boy. Tip: you could also use the lid of a shoe box.
Step 2
Cut strokes from a cardboard in the exact same width and glue two layers on each others. If you just use one layer, the ball will roll over it. We prefer using double sided adhesive tape as you don't have to wait till it dries and it gets less messy. But glue is an option too.
Step 3
Wrap your cardboard box in nice wrapping paper.
Step 4
Pimp the upper side of the strokes in contrasting wrapping paper. First put the double sided adhesive tape on the upper side of the stroke, and then flip it and paste on to the wrapping paper. Now you can easily cut off the edges.
Step 5
Now start thinking about the way you want to lay out the maze, a great creative exercise for kids. Cut strokes and place it in the cardboard box, but don't glue it yet. In this way you can still adjust if you are not happy yet.
Step 6
Done engineering you design? Put the double sided tape at the back of the strokes and stick it in the cardboard box.
Step 7
Now you're ready to play! Put your ball at the start of your marble run and try to move it over to the end of your maze.
