Weekend Trip | Into the woods
Sometimes you just need to take a break and clear your mind. Reset yourself, get inspired and refuel. There is no better way to do this than outdoors, in nature. No TV and poor network coverage help you even more to directly de-stress and relax.
Best place to sleep in a treehouse
We have been looking for a weekend away into the woods and came across the ultimate tree house in Belgium, called Treelodge. The Treelodge is runned by founders Bram and Karen, an inspiring adventurous couple that created their dream place all by themselves! We were truly amazed by this weekend and it exceeded our expectations.
Back to basic with a little luxury
At the moment they have three luxury tree houses up to 6 people, all fully equipped with everything you need. On top of it they all have their own hot tub that can be booked as an extra. We stayed in the 'Bonte Specht' or in English 'Great Spotted Woodpecker'. The beds are situated in the top of the treehouse and has the most beautiful view. Imagine waking up, open your curtains and looking into a painting with an orchestra of birds on the background. 
Adventurous terrain
Upon arrival, the boys immediately went to explore the grounds. There were all different kind of corners to discover. A place to build cozy campfires, a dry wood place to chop your own wood, a covered shed with various go-karts and bicycles, a bocce ball track, and above all a lot of nature.
Hot Tub
Then, of course, the boys rushed to the forest hut. Followed by lots of 'aahs' and 'oohs' :-). They almost exploded with excitement. A cozy and compact house, fully equipped with everything you need. Of course, wood had to be chopped immediately so that we could immediately enter the hot tub.
Chop your own wood
To use the pizza oven or you own hot tub, you firstly need to chop your own wood. You can probably guess, our kids were busy with this all day long.
Be your own pizza chef
The tree houses are built around a central courtyard were you can have dinner and be your own chef. They even offer the possibility to book open camp-fire cooking workshops or pizza packages. We made our own pizza dough and I can tell you it tasted damn good!
Camp fire cookings
We enjoyed crackling camp fires at night under the stars. Treelodge is equipped with all the gear you need. We even made waffles for breakfast with Nutella and strawberries. Do I need to say more? Furthermore we made popcorn and roasted marshmallows but you could also order a food package with delicious bites.
